HC Deb 26 July 1922 vol 157 cc443-4
26. Dr. M'DONALD

asked the Minister of Health if he will now supply the House with the answers received in reply to his inquiries forwarded to the medical and dental profession concerning the necessity or otherwise of the use of cocaine?

Sir A. MOND

I am satisfied from inquiries that have been made that cocaine is essential to the medical profession, particularly in ophthalmic surgery and laryngology. As regards dental surgery, although dental surgeons are not unanimous, there are many who regard cocaine as essential for certain dental operations.
