47. Dr. MURRAYasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been drawn to the remarks of the Lord Chancellor's Referee, in giving judgment in the sodium hyposulphite case, to the effect that, where the letter R is prefixed to certain chemical commodities in the Key Industries List, the exact meaning and scope of the letter R should be in some way defined; and whether he can state what steps he is taking to carry out the suggestion?
§ Mr. BALDWINI have studied the judgment given by the Referee in the sodium hyposulphite case. It embodies 9 no suggestion such as is made by the hon. Member, that the exact meaning and scope of the letter R, as used in the lists issued under Section 5 of the Safeguarding of Industries Act, should in general he defined. The Referee did, however, say that it is advisable to be a little more definite as to what is meant by the letter R. in this particular case.
