§ 11. Mr. HOGGEasked the President of the Board of Trade if he has agreed to receive a deputation on behalf of the silk trade applying for a duty of 33⅓ per cent. upon imported silks; and, if so, whether he will also undertake to receive a deputation on behalf of the traders in silk and consumers, so that their point of view may be considered before coming to a decision on this matter, especially with a view to avoiding the setting up of a Committee, which will involve delays, inconvenience, and loss of time to all parties, whether favourable or unfavourable to the duty, and the additional heavy legal and other expenses consequently incurred?
§ Mr. BALDWINThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative; the second part accordingly does not arise.
