HC Deb 24 July 1922 vol 157 c5
11. Mr. HOGGE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he has agreed to receive a deputation on behalf of the silk trade applying for a duty of 33⅓ per cent. upon imported silks; and, if so, whether he will also undertake to receive a deputation on behalf of the traders in silk and consumers, so that their point of view may be considered before coming to a decision on this matter, especially with a view to avoiding the setting up of a Committee, which will involve delays, inconvenience, and loss of time to all parties, whether favourable or unfavourable to the duty, and the additional heavy legal and other expenses consequently incurred?

Mr. BALDWIN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative; the second part accordingly does not arise.
