HC Deb 24 July 1922 vol 157 cc36-7
37. Viscount CURZON

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that all work in connection with the issue of clasps for service in the late War to those entitled to them in the three Services has been suspended: whether he can assure the House that the issue of clasps will be recommenced at the very earliest possible moment; and if he can give any indication of when this will be?

Sir R. HORNE

Yes, Sir. I am aware that the necessity for economy has made it impracticable to proceed with the issue of clasps. Having regard to the very substantial expenditure which would he involved, I regret that I cannot give the assurance desired by the hon. and gallant Member.

Viscount CURZNI

Does that mean that the Government do not propose to issue the clasp to anybody entitled to it?

Sir R. HORNE

Not at all. There is considerable delay in issuing the clasps, but there is no intention of depriving anybody who is entitled.
