HC Deb 04 July 1922 vol 156 c168
8. Mr. L. MALONE

asked the Secretary of State for War what are our present obligations in regard to the despatch of troops to France or Belgium, both as to the numbers to be sent and the conditions under which they will be sent; whether these obligations comprise any specific treaty or agreement: and, if not, whether any such treaty or agreement is contemplated?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

There is no military agreement involving any obligation to despatch troops as suggested. The conclusion of a pact involving mutual support in certain contingencies is under discussion with both countries, but it is too early to say on what lines these discussions will develop.
