THOMSONasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that to make the returns in the form required, and within the time prescribed by Circulars Nos. 261 and 317 issued by his Ministry, is imposing considerable additional work and expense on boards of guardians at a time when their ordinary 200 local work is in many cases already increased tenfold; and can he see his way to modify these requirements or give a longer time for their execution?
§ Sir A. MONDI do not think that the arrangements described in the Circulars referred to could conveniently be modified, and I have received no complaints from boards of guardians on this subject. Any extension of the period prescribed by Circular 317 could only be made at the expense of further delay in settling claims made by persons entitled to benefit from the Unemployment Insurance Fund. No time limit is prescribed by Circular 261.
