§ 48. Sir WILLIAM JOYNSON-HICKSasked the Prime Minister if he is now in a position to reply to the letter of the 2nd June from the Parliamentary Air Committee?
§ 49. Major-General SEELYasked the Prime Minister if he can now say what definite steps His Majesty's Government propose to take in order to safeguard our air position and to secure the adequate and equal consideration of the needs of all three Services'?
§ The PRIME MINISTERNo, Sir. The matter is under consideration by the Committee of Imperial Defence.
§ Major-General SEELYWill the right hon. Gentleman say when we may expect a statement on this matter, in regard to which we have been put off a great many times? Realising the importance of this matter, is it not about time that something was told to the House of Commons on a matter in regard to which our national safety is really in jeopardy?
§ The PRIME MINISTERIf my right hon. Friend will put a further question down on Thursday, I shall be in a better position to give an answer.
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSWill the right hon. Gentleman be willing to receive a deputation from the Parliamentary Air Committee, who have given much consideration to this matter in order that we may place our views before him?
§ The PRIME MINISTERCertainly, I will. I think it would be very helpful to have a deputation of that kind. Perhaps my hon. Friend will communicate with me as to the time.
