HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 c2240
78. Mr. TREVELYAN THOMSON

asked the President of the Board of Education if he will state the number of education authorities receiving aid under the Necessitous Area Grant in 1919, and the total amount of the same; the number which will receive grants under the new Order, increasing the qualifying rate to 4s. in the £, and the amount of the same; if the necessary figures are not available for 1920, what number of education authorities would have received the grant in 1919 had the 4s. limit been in force; and what would have been the total amount of the grant?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Fisher)

As regards the first two part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave on the 16th March to the hon. Member for Merioneth. As regards the last part of the question, the answer is that there would have been two such authorities, and the amount of the grant would have been about £800.
