HC Deb 03 May 1920 vol 128 cc1687-8
23. Mr. HURD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs which of our most-favoured-nation treaties have been terminated by the War or by notice; which of them have been brought to an end by denunciation by foreign countries; which of them still remain in operation; and what steps have been taken by this country, or by any nation within the Empire, to negotiate fresh treaties with foreign Powers?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Kirkdale on 27th November last, which still holds good. As regards the last part of the question, no steps have yet been taken by His Majesty's Government or any of the Dominion Governments to conclude fresh most-favoured-nation treaties with foreign Powers.

Mr. HURD

Did not the answer last November cover only part of the ground in the question?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

No. I was looking into it this morning, and I think it pretty comprehensive.
