HC Deb 03 May 1920 vol 128 c1695
34. Mr. HURD

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to statements that Canada is to have in dependent diplomatic representation in the United States and vice versâ; has any decision been come to in this matter at Ottawa or in London; and what is the present position of discussions on this subject between Ottawa, Washington, and London?

Mr. SHORTT

I am not yet in a position to make a statement in regard to the representation of Canada at Washington, but hope to do so shortly.

Lieut-Colonel MURRAY

Would it not be better to leave it to be settled by the Imperial Conference, to be summoned as soon as possible to deal with the constitutional readjustment of the various portions of the Empire?
