HC Deb 17 June 1920 vol 130 cc1436-7
33. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Prime Minister whether His Majesty's Government have taken any steps to prevent further British munitions or munitions purchased in Austria from reaching Poland?

The PRIME MINISTER

As regards Austrian munitions, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given on the 10th instant to the hon. Member for East Leyton, and as regards British munitions, I can add nothing to the answer given on the 17th May to my right hon. Friend the Member for Gorbals.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Are we to understand from that answer that no munitions, either from Austria or this country, are being permitted to pass to Poland, and have our representatives in Vienna been instructed accordingly?

The PRIME MINISTER

The answer given on the last occasion was very specific, and I really cannot add anything to it.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

May I press for an answer, or will the right hon. Gentleman undertake to make inquiries at Vienna as to whether any more munitions are being passed from Austria into Poland at the present time, and if so will he prohibit them?

The PRIME MINISTER

So far as we are concerned, we have done so. We have no responsibility for anybody else.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

Have munitions been stopped going from this country to Poland?

The PRIME MINISTER

None are going from this country.
