HC Deb 17 June 1920 vol 130 c1436
32. Captain W. BENN

asked the Prime Minister what was the total amount of the floating debt outstanding on Saturday last; and what was the total subscription to the Treasury Bonds to that date?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Chamberlain)

As I explained to the hon. and gallant Member last week this information is published in the regular weekly revenue and expenditure returns. I venture to suggest to him that in these circumstances such questions are unnecessary. For his convenience however, I again repeat the information, which is as follows:—The floating debt on Saturday, the 12th June, amounted to £1,301,020,000 and the Exchequer receipts from Treasury Bonds to £6,785,000.

Captain BENN

Does the right hon. Gentleman think that the Treasury Bonds issue has been a success?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

That also is a question which I have already answered.
