§ 32. Captain W. BENNasked the Prime Minister what was the total amount of the floating debt outstanding on Saturday last; and what was the total subscription to the Treasury Bonds to that date?
§ The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Chamberlain)As I explained to the hon. and gallant Member last week this information is published in the regular weekly revenue and expenditure returns. I venture to suggest to him that in these circumstances such questions are unnecessary. For his convenience however, I again repeat the information, which is as follows:—The floating debt on Saturday, the 12th June, amounted to £1,301,020,000 and the Exchequer receipts from Treasury Bonds to £6,785,000.
§ Captain BENNDoes the right hon. Gentleman think that the Treasury Bonds issue has been a success?
§ Mr. CHAMBERLAINThat also is a question which I have already answered.
