HC Deb 17 June 1920 vol 130 cc1426-7
14. Colonel GRETTON

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if payments by tenants in Ireland who have purchased their holdings under the Irish Land Acts are made regularly; and can he state what was the amount of arrears on the last account?

Mr. HENRY

Having regard to the number of payers, the payment of the half-yearly instalments of Land Purchase Annuities have hitherto been met with great regularity. The total arrears on the 31st March last in respect of all advances made under the Land Purchase Acts, 1870–1909, came to £22,489, the annual amount collectible being something over 3¼ millions, the arrear being less than 0.7 per cent. This arrear has been considerably reduced since the 31st March last.
