HC Deb 17 June 1920 vol 130 cc1451-2
67. Mr. GILBERT

asked the Home Secretary whether any men of the Metropolitan Police Force are being trained in the use of firearms; whether it is proposed to arm any of the men with revolvers; and if he can make any statement on the subject?

Mr. SHORTT

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given yesterday in reply to a question on this subject by the hon. Member for Pontypool (Mr. Griffiths).

Mr. BILLING

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether it is proposed to issue ordinary revolvers or automatic pistols to the police, and, if the latter, is he aware that there is considerable danger in their employment?

Mr. SHORTT

I must have notice of that question.
