HC Deb 17 June 1920 vol 130 c1430
46. Mr. AUBREY HERBERT

asked the Prime Minister whether it is possible to arrange for the assembly of the League of Nations at an earlier date than 7th November?

The PRIME MINISTER

The Council of the League at the recent meeting in Rome decided to invite President Wilson to call the first meeting of the Assembly in November, and I am aware of no reason why that decision should be modified.

Captain W. BENN

What is the need for the delay from now until November?

The PRIME MINISTER

The date was fixed by the Council of the League.

Captain BENN

Did our representatives accede or protest, and ask for an earlier meeting?

Mr. BOTTOMLEY

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think that a more appropriate date for the meeting of the League would be the 5th November?
