29. Sir ROBERT GOWERasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to the inconvenience caused by the illness of a juror during the progress of a case tried before the Common Serjeant at the Central Criminal Court; and whether he will consider the desirability of introducing legislation providing such reform in our jury system as will obviate the necessity in such cases of a new jury being sworn and the trial being commenced de novo?
