HC Deb 12 July 1920 vol 131 c1933
19. Mr. WATERSON

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will make representations to railway companies dealing with London suburban passenger traffic to accelerate the morning and evening services so as to avoid overcrowding, which is detrimental to health?

Sir E. GEDDES

This Ministry is in constant communication with the railway companies upon the problem of dealing with the heavy morning and evening traffic, which has become more acute since the general introduction of a shorter working day which has caused a greater concentration of such traffic. The railway companies are utilising to the full the facilities available, and are giving consideration to schemes, including electrification, for increasing the facilities in question.
