HC Deb 23 February 1920 vol 125 cc1297-8
62. Colonel BURN

asked the Minister of Transport what steps are being taken towards the issue of cheap railway tickets during the Easter holidays?

Sir E. GEDDES

I regret to say that I entertain little hope that it will be possible this year to give the cheap travelling facilities in question. The matter is securing most earnest and sympathetic consideration.

Colonel BURN

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the prosperity of many seaside towns depends on the concession or withdrawal of those facilities; and will he make a special effort to do something?

Sir E. GEDDES

As I explained, I am making a special effort.

Mr. BILLING

Will the right hon. Gentleman also consider the health of the children of the country, especially of the more or less poor classes, not the working classes?
