HC Deb 19 February 1920 vol 125 cc1023-4
23. Colonel YATE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs when the text of the Spitzbergen Treaty will be published?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

To obviate the necessity of their proceeding several times to Paris for the purpose of signing the various remaining Treaties and to enable them to sign during one visit, an extension of time has been granted to the Dominion High Commissioners up to April 7th for signing the Spitzbergen Treaty. In these circumstances His Majesty's Government consider that the Dominion Governments must first be con suited as to whether they would have any objection to the immediate publication of the Spitzbergen Treaty which was signed by His Majesty's Ambassador at Paris on behalf of the United Kingdom and India on February 16th. In the event of the Dominion Governments raising no objection the Treaty will be published forth with.
