HC Deb 19 February 1920 vol 125 cc1034-5
45. Mr. WIGNALL

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware of the feeling that the present high cost of clothing is absolutely unjustified; and whether he will take steps to have the stocks of khaki cloth at present in the possession of the military authorities dyed and sold at a reasonable figure, and in this way assist in putting a stop to the profits made by spinners and manufacturers?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am informed that the whole of the khaki cloth which has from time to time been released by the War Office as surplus to Army requirements has been sold. It amounts to 8½ million yards.

Lieut.-Commander KENWO RTHY

Have any safeguards been taken to see that this was not retailed to the public at an excessive charge?

The PRIME MINISTER

I must have notice of that question.
