HC Deb 12 February 1920 vol 125 cc221-2
48. Lieut.-Colonel DALRYMPLE WHITE

asked the Prime Minister whether he is now prepared to introduce legislation to secure the rights of arbitration in the case of tenants of shops and business premises who may find these premises leased or sold over their heads without the option of tendering, or who, on renewal of lease, are demanded increases of rent which frequently exceed four times the previous rental?

The PRIME MINISTER

The Minister of Health, in conjunction with the Lord Chancellor, has already taken steps, as authorised by the Government, to set up a Committee to consider the matters associated with the general question of the restriction of rents, and the question referred to by my hon. and gallant Friend will be considered by the Committee.
