§ 50. Commander BELLAIRSasked the Prime Minister whether he is aware of the financial difficulties attached to the post of Ambassador to Washington and the consequent limitation in the choice of a representative; and, if so, whether the salary is to be increased?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI am aware of the fact that the post of British Ambassador at Washington is one which entails large expenditure, and the question whether a revision of the Ambassador's emoluments will be necessary, as soon as a permanent appointment to the post is made, is already under consideration.
