asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many police controls were in operation in the Metropolitan police area for detecting infringements of the Motor Car Act between a.m. 7th August and p.m 9th August; how-many police officers were employed, and with what success; what were the maximum figures for any one day; were any cases of dangerous driving reported; and in which area most cases were reported?

There were 99 controls in operation during the three days. 75 officers were employed. 151 cases were reported for prosecution by the officers on control duty, one of which related to dangerous driving. 64 cases were the maximum reported for any one day, namely, on the 7th August (Saturday). Four cases of dangerous driving were reported by the police on ordinary duty. Most cases were reported in the South-western area.
