§ Dr. MACNAMARAThe number of strikes and lock-outs reported to the Minister of Labour during 1919 was 1,413. The total number of workpeople directly and indirectly involved, at the establishments where the disputes occurred, was about 2,580,000, and the aggregate duration of the disputes was about 34,480,000 working days. These figures are exclusive of some small disputes, involving insignificant numbers of workpeople, as to which statistics are not available.
