HC Deb 20 April 1920 vol 128 c226
65. Captain TERRELL

asked the Minister of Food the policy of his Department with respect to the de-control of the remaining articles of food still under official regulation?

Mr. McCURDY

The continued shortage of supplies and rise in prices of essential foodstuffs, with the consequent hardship to the consuming classes, and continued increase in the cost of living, render it necessary that some measure of supervision and control over prices and profiteering in foodstuffs shall continue for some time to come. I cannot within the limits of this answer indicate any detailed policy as regards particular foodstuffs, since each commodity has its own peculiar and often intricate problems.
