HC Deb 19 April 1920 vol 128 cc35-6
Major O'NEILL

(by Private Notice) asked the Food Controller whether it is the case that the dock workers at Irish ports are refusing to load any pigs or pig-products for export to Great Britain; whether this action is intended as a protest against the enormous increase in the price of home-cured bacon since control was removed; and what action he proposes to take in view of the state of affairs which has arisen?

Mr. PARKER

The facts are as stated in the question. The matter is engaging the attention of the Government.

Major O'NEILL

Are these men still refusing to handle the bacon?

Mr. PARKER

I am afraid I am not in possession of any further information.

Mr. J. JONES

Why should these men help to export food to other countries when they are going short themselves?
