§ The ASSISTANT POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Pike Pease)The increase during 1919 in the number of telephones in the United States of 1378 America, including the Bell system and independent companies not connected with the Bell system, was 664,422, or 5.5 per cent., and in the United Kingdom (Post Office system), 59,550, or 7.1 per cent.
