asked the Postmaster-General whether he can state the increase in the number of telephones, respectively, in the United States of America and in the United Kingdom for 1919?

The increase during 1919 in the number of telephones in the United States of America, including the Bell system and independent companies not connected with the Bell system, was 664,422, or 5.5 per cent., and in the United Kingdom (Post Office system), 59,550, or 7.1 per cent.
