HC Deb 12 April 1920 vol 127 c1378
25. Captain COOTE

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of amending the Representation of the People Act so as to apply the principle of the alternative vote to single-member constituencies?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the answer given to a similar question by the hon. and gallant Member for Kincardine and Western on the 31st March.

Sir J. D. REES

After the deliberate killing by the House of this particular eccentricity, can the matter be reconsidered during the life of the present Parliament.

Mr. BONAR LAW

I have no doubt it can.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that nothing short of this can possibly save the Liberal party?
