HC Deb 29 October 1919 vol 120 cc669-70
67. Sir F. HALL

asked the Lord Privy Seal if the United States Shipping Board have refused to carry out the arrangements made in pursuance of the Peace Treaty as to the disposal of German merchant ships; if in the meantime these ships are being used by America; and what steps are being taken to obtain possession of the ships allocated to Great Britain in view of the great shortage of tonnage in this country arising from unexceptional sacrifices made by it in the War?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The Government are taking the necessary steps din this matter, and we hope that an agreement will shortly be reached. I am sure the House would not desire that I should say more at present.
