HC Deb 28 October 1919 vol 120 c473
68. Captain HACKING

asked the Pensions Minister what procedure he proposes to adopt in order to settle quickly cases of application for pension from ex-soldiers whose documents the War Office or officer in charge of records admit have been mislaid or lost?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of PENSIONS (Col. Sir James Craig)

The practice in such cases is to apply to the officer in charge of records for such information as he may still be able to furnish. This generally includes particulars of service and, if the man is invalided, particulars of the paragraph of the King's Regulations under which the action was taken. If the latter item of information is not forthcoming the man is asked to furnish a copy of his discharge certificate. The man is then brought before a medical board.
