HC Deb 22 May 1919 vol 116 c569
69. Mr. GILBERT

asked the President of the Local Government Board if the London County Council has submitted any further plans to his Department for there building of the Tabard Street clearance scheme in South London; when such plans were submitted by the council; what new housing accommodation they provide; if they have been approved by his Department; and on what date?

Major ASTOR

Further plans were received by the Board on the 12th instant for the erection on a part of the site of buildings containing ninety tenements, and estimated to afford accommodation for 500 persons. The plans have not yet been approved, but they are under consideration.

71. Mr. GILBERT

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he has received any scheme from the London County Council for the further development of the Old Oak Common housing estate; and will he state what date such scheme and plans were received from the council; and if his Department has yet approved the same, and on what date the council was advised of the approval?

Major ASTOR

So far as I am aware, no scheme for the further development of the Old Oak Common estate by the London County Council has yet been submitted to the Local Government Board. Arrangements have been made with the London County Council for the utilisation of a small part of this estate for the erection of model houses based on the plans which gained awards in the competition instituted by the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Sir A. YEO

Will the hon. and gallant Gentleman see that in the plans or schemes the children are not prevented from living in these houses?
