HC Deb 20 May 1919 vol 116 cc189-90
36. Captain R. TERRELL

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the fact that the granting of leave to soldiers employed in distant theatres of war is left to the officers commanding, he will state the general instructions which are laid down upon the subject of leave: and whether the soldier with thirty to thirty-six months' continuous service can bring his rejected application for leave before any supreme tribunal?

Captain GUEST

The grant of leave to soldiers employed in distant theatres of war is in the hands of the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief the Expeditionary Force concerned. It is open to any soldier who wishes to bring his rejected application for leave before higher authority to lodge a complaint in the manner provided in Section 43 of the Army Act and paragraph 439 of the King's Regulations.
