HC Deb 20 May 1919 vol 116 c167
3. Colonel ASHLEY

asked the Secretary for War whether he is aware that many men sent home for demobilisation from distant theatres of operations have been unable to obtain the full twenty-eight days' demobilisation furlough owing to the fact that their time has expired during their journey home; and whether, in such cases, he will sanction the payment of the full twenty-eight days' pay and the ration allowance in lieu of the leave?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

I am not clear to what cases my hon. and gallant Friend refers, as in the case of soldiers coming home from distant theatres of operations their twenty-eight days' furlough commences from the day following that on which they leave the dispersal station in the United Kingdom to proceed to their homes, irrespective of whether their terms of engagement have already expired or not.

Colonel ASHLEY

May I send the right hon. Gentleman cases?

Mr. FORSTER

Yes.
