HC Deb 19 May 1919 vol 116 c45
Mr. REMER

(by Private Notice) asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been called to the strike now in operation in the ship-repairing yards of Liverpool, also involving the Liverpool sawmills; whether the ship-repairing employers have declined even to meet the Trade Union officials delegated to negotiate on this matter; and what action he intends to take?

Sir R. HORNE

I have not yet been able to obtain any information on the question, but I will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as I have received it.

Mr. REMER

Is he aware that a strike involving the whole port of Liverpool may be involved in this question, and that it is very urgent, as the strike has been going on for a fortnight?

Sir R. HORNE

This strike has not been going on for a fortnight if it is in danger of arising—that is perfectly obvious; but I will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as I can get the necessary information.
