HC Deb 01 May 1919 vol 115 cc315-6
56. Mr. CAIRNS

asked the Lord Privy Seal whether his attention has been drawn to the prices now being charged for clothing and drapery; and whether he will con- sider the advisability of appointing a Committee to inquire into this matter, with a view to steps being taken to abolish profiteering?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Bridgeman)

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. My right hon. Friend, the acting-President, is giving careful consideration to the general question of prices, and I shall be very glad to lay before him any special information which the hon. Gentleman may be able to furnish as regards the particular industry referred to in the question.
