Mr. WATERSONasked the President of the Local Government Board 414 whether his attention has been drawn to a resolution, passed in February at a public meeting, condemning the Brixworth Rural District Council for attempting to shelve the building of cottages, by calling upon large employers to build houses for their workmen in preference to the council building themselves; and will he take steps to enforce the council in question to adopt its own scheme and complete the work under its own authority?
§ Major ASTORMy attention has been drawn to the resolution to which the hon. Member refers. The local authority have previously notified their intention of preparing a housing scheme, and my right hon. Friend is asking the District Housing Commissioner to make inquiries into the matter.
