§ 66. Major COHENasked whether, while full civil pay is paid to all members of the staff who joined Royal Engineer units, Army pay is deducted from the civil pay if any other branch of the Service is joined; and, if so, what is the reason for this differentiation?
§ Mr. PEASEThe case is as stated by the hon. Member. The reason is that use was made in the Royal Engineers of the special postal and telegraph qualifications 32 of Post Office servants. In other units of the forces the special qualifications of Post Office servants had no particular value.
