HC Deb 19 March 1919 vol 113 cc2094-5
81. Mr. LUNN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether local authorities in industrial districts are acquainting him with the feelings of dissatisfaction of the people at the refusal to provide cheap railway facilities to the seaside?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I am aware of the desire for cheap railway facilities, but I cannot add to the reply on the subject given on the 11th March to the hon. Member for West Bromwich. I am sending the hon. Gentleman a copy of that reply.

Mr. LUNN

In view of the remarkably healthy condition of working people as just explained, is it the idea of the Government that working people should be contented with the fresh air they get from the sea as seen on the moving pictures?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I do not know what the hon. Member means. If he means that there is any desire to prevent people from having these health facilities he is entirely wrong. We should be only too glad if we could provide them.
