HC Deb 12 March 1919 vol 113 c1269
29. Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Government have in preparation a scheme for the allotment of some millions of acres of land in British East Africa to British settlers; and whether, in view of the very large number of ex-Service officers who desire to settle in that part of the Empire, he can see his way to make a statement on the subject?

Colonel AMERY

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which I gave to the question of the hon. and gallant Member for Yeovil on 17th February. Since that date telegraphic correspondence has passed with the Governor of the East Africa Protectorate with a view to a statement on the subject being made before the arrival of the report and evidence of the local commission.
