§ Mr. SHORTTI regret that the information as to the number of inspections is not available for the two years in question. The number of inspectors on the staff in 1907 was 39, and in 1914 89. The total cost of the inspectorate for the financial year 1907–8 was £31,365 odd, and for 1914–15 £48,786 odd.
