§ 71. Mr. HURDasked the First Commissioner of Works whether notice has been given to leave the premises of the Constitutional Club now occupied by the Government; what is the cause of delay in giving such notice; when will a beginning be made with the necessary alterations and repairs; and when may the club expect to be given possession?
§ Sir A. MONDNotice was given to the Constitutional Club on the 14th ultimo, that arrangements were being made for the surrender of their premises in Northumberland Avenue. The exact date is dependent upon the vacation of the building by the occupying staff, and I am informed by the Department concerned that it is hoped to effect this at about the end of the present month. Reinstatement will be carried out so soon thereafter as possible, and the necessary preliminary steps are already being taken so that no time shall be lost.
§ Mr. KILEYCan the right hon. Gentleman say when the National Liberal Club premises will be available?
§ Sir A. MONDNot at present.
§ Mr. HOGGEIn view of the fact that both large political clubs were taken simultaneously, so that there might be no trouble, will he say when he intends to release the National Liberal Club?
§ Mr. SPEAKERThat is similar to the question just asked.
