HC Deb 03 March 1919 vol 113 c3
37. Major NEWMAN

asked the Deputy-Minister of Munitions whether arrangements are being made to offer, in the first instance to any local authorities who may express their desire to utilise them for purposes of temporary housing, all hutments no longer required by the War Office or other Government Departments?m

The DEPUTY-MINISTER of MUNITIONS (Mr. Kellaway)

As soon as huts are declared to be surplus the Disposal Board will inform local authorities, who will be given an opportunity of purchasing them. A controller has been appointed by the Board for the purpose of ascertaining the requirements of local authorities and of informing them if such requirements can be met from surplus store.

Mr. R. McNEILL

Will farmers be given an opportunity to acquire buildings of this kind?

Mr. KELLAWAY

Wherever it is found convenient for the purposes of the farmers that will be done.
