HC Deb 30 June 1919 vol 117 cc615-6
85. Colonel BURN

asked the President of the Local Government Board if he is prepared to favourably consider the introduction of an amendment to Section 2 (1) (b) of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1911, in order to substitute other means for calculating the incomes of those who are in receipt of old age pensions who have obtained temporary employment during the War, but who are being discharged owing to the return of those whose places they filled?

87. Commander Sir EDWARD NICHOLL

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether in the case of old age pensioners who have no income other than the pension guardians may be empowered to grant out-relief in. addition to the pension, and that the relief so given may in no way disqualify the recipient from continuing to receive the old age pension?

Mr. BALDWIN (Joint Financial Secretary to the Treasury)

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friends to the reply which I gave on the 26th instant to the hon. Member for Morpeth.
