HC Deb 30 June 1919 vol 117 cc605-6
72. Lieut.-Colonel ALLEN

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions if there are some thousands of motor lorries and cars still parked in Belgium and France; if, while so parked, many have been destroyed by fire; and, seeing that there is a shortage of this class of vehicle in this country, if he will say what steps have been taken to remove these vehicles to England, and when it is intended to have their removal completed?

Mr. KELLAWAY

There are a large number of motor lorries and cars still parked in Belgium and France, some of which have been notified to the Disposal Board as surplus to requirements. These are being brought back to this country from overseas as fast as the available ton- nage will allow. No cars passed to the Disposal Board have been destroyed by fire.
