HC Deb 30 June 1919 vol 117 c595
35. Sir ARTHUR FELL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if the Regulations requiring passports to visit the Channel Islands will be rescinded as soon as Peace is signed; and, if not, will they be rescinded before the summer holidays take place so as not to hamper the free movement of British subjects about the British Isles?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for-FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Cecil Harms-worth)

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to a similar question on the 3rd instant. I understand that the Secretary of State for the Home Department is now in communication with the Channel Islands authorities on the matter.

Sir A. FELL

Now that peace is signed is it necessary to keep up these vexatious restrictions?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

No doubt that will receive the consideration of the Secretary of State.
