HC Deb 14 July 1919 vol 118 c12
21. Mr. GRANT

asked the President of the Board of Trade what will be the cost to the Treasury in contribution to the coal industry up to the 16th July of the cur rent financial year; and if the proposed increase of 6s. per ton on the price of coal will relieve the Treasury of any further contribution after that date?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The cost to the Treasury for the current financial year, up to the 16th July, will be approximately £7,250,000. An increase of 6s. per ton on the price of coal will relieve the Treasury of any further contribution after that date, provided the estimated output of coal is maintained.
