HC Deb 14 July 1919 vol 118 cc32-3
82. Lieut.-Colonel HILDER

asked the Minister of Health, in view of the high cost of living and the obvious inability of the old age pensioners to help themselves, if the Government wall consider the advisability of anticipating the Report of the Select Committee now sitting by making an immediate pronouncement of some permanent increase in the old age pension to commence on Peace Day, 19th July, 1919?

Mr. STANLEY BALDWIN (Joint Financial Secretary to the Treasury)

I am afraid that I cannot accept this suggestion.
