HC Deb 27 February 1919 vol 112 cc1927-8
12. Mr. PENNEFATHER

asked the Pensions Minister if he is now in a position to make any statement in regard to the maintenance charges to officers and men in hospitals?

Sir J. CRAIG

I cannot yet make a statement on this matter.

Mr. PENNEFATHER

May I ask the hon. and gallant Gentleman if he can indicate when it will be convenient for me to repeat these two questions, which I have already put down twice?

Sir J. CRAIG

My hon. Friend will understand that I myself am very anxious that we should be able to reply specifically to these questions. May I suggest that he should put them down again this day week?

Mr. PEMBERTON BILLING

In case of the Government doing this, will they make the payment retrospective, to make up for their delay?

Sir J. CRAIG

I do not think there has been any undue delay. It is a very difficult matter to settle. It is a matter of policy, and my right hon. Friend will be in the House later.
