HC Deb 01 December 1919 vol 122 c23
42 and 43. Mr. GILBERT

asked the Minister of Transport (1) whether any decision has yet been come to by the Advisory Committee or the Railway Executive Committee as to reopening the stations in South London and working the railway service on the South-Eastern and Chatham Railway on the Victoria to City Extension; if not, will he urge on both committees the necessity of reopening this line in order to relieve other forms of transit serving the public in the same area;

(2) whether he is aware of the delays caused to all kinds of road traffic at most of the main cross-traffic points in South London like the Elephant and Castle; whether he can arrange with the police, road, and tramway authorities as to whether anything can be done immediately to control this traffic in a better manner, and so avoid the great delays which are at present caused to the passenger traffic at these points?

Sir E. GEDDES

The points raised in this and the following questions are at present being considered by the Advisory Committee on London Traffic.
