HC Deb 12 August 1919 vol 119 c1077
17. Captain R. TERRELL

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the 1914–15 Star and the Allies Medal are to be given to men who joined up in the early stages of the War and who were sent on garrison duty to India, where they have been ever since; and, if not, will he, in view of their services, consider their claim?

Captain GUEST

The 1914–15 Star is awarded to all who served on the establishment of a unit in certain specified theatres of war. India as a whole was not a theatre of war, and unless service was rendered in the operations mentioned in Appendix "A" to Army Order 20 of 1918, the men referred to will not be eligible for the award. The Army Order sanctioning the grant of the Victory Medal will shortly be published.
